31st March 2009 is the deadline for all heavy goods vehicles with a GVM exceeding 3.5 tonnes and registered on or after 1st January 2000 to meet the new EU wide angle and close-proximity mirror legislation.
Lancashire DAF can provide you with a free tool to enable you to check your mirrors yourself - if the surface curvature is 300, they are compliant and no further action is needed. However if they're 400 they don't meet legislative requirements and you should contact us or your local DAF dealer who can arrange to adapt the exisiting mirrors or fit new mirrors as appropriate.
The Eu retrofitting mirror directive applies to all manufacturers vehicles and DAF LF, CF and XF models and covers:
Class IV mirrors (wide angle)
Class V mirrors (close-proximity)
Vehicles registered on or after 1st January 2000 up to XF105 or Euro 4/5
LF's in the above category will require
- a complete new wide angle mirror
- a complete new kerb mirror
CF's in the above category will require
- as a minimum a new wide angle mirror glass, though for ease of fitment a new wide angle mirror is recommended.
XF's in the above category will require
- as a minimum a new wide angle mirror glass, though for ease of fitment a new wide angle mirror is recommended.
If your mirrors aren't compliant the sooner you know the better - and the sooner we can put things right for you !
If you would like a free tool to check your mirrors then please contact our parts department direct on 01772 334001 or alternatively the next time you have your DAF truck serviced we will be pleased to do a free mirror compliance check for you, please ask on booking in your vehicle
